The Bashundhara Group has taken initiative to give special honors to a total of 64 veteran and talented journalists from each district for their special contribution in grassroots journalism of the country.

Prominent journalist Professor Amirul Islam, the current president of Bauphal Press Club, has received “Bashundhara Media Award-2021” from Patuakhali district in the country for his succession.

The honorary certificates have been handed over to these talented pen soldiers. Eminent journalist Professor Amirul Islam and his family have expressed their gratitude to Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Managing Director Sayem Sobahan Anvir and Jury Board Chief Professor Dr. Golam Rahman who was nominated through 100% impartiality and logical analysis and he is even more grateful to the journalists of Baufal Press Club who have always been by his side.He was born on 30 September in 1948 in Patuakhali district at Dariabad village in Bauphal.

He was admitted to the Bangla Department of Dhaka University in 1986 with honors. At that time his classmates were the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the late playwright Selim Al Deen, poet Nirmalendu Gun, former president of the National Press Club Md. Shafiqur Rahman MP and others. He joined the teaching profession at Bauphal Degree College in 1982 and retired in 2006.

In addition to teaching Professor Amirul Islam, he first joined the weekly Sunday, then the local daily Tentulia in his own edition, then the daily ‘Ittefaq’ in 1996 as a Bauphal journalist and he is still working today as a own representitive.

He is currently serving as the President of Bauphal Press Club with good will and every journalist of Bauphal are pleased with him.
